Situated on
the banks of the Holy Ganges near Calcutta in the state of West Bengal in Eastern part of
India, KESORAM RAYON is a quality VISCOSE RAYON FILAMENT YARN Manufacturing
unit, a division owned by KESORAM INDUSTRIES LTD, a leading Indian Company having
diversified industries in its manifold operations and managed by the largest and worldwide
renowned Indian Industrial House of BIRLA Group. Continuous efforts, research and
development is the key note of its present status.
Kesoram Industries Ltd. established their Rayon Division in 1959.
Today, it has about 2700 employees on roll and is the only factory in Eastern India
manufacturing Viscose Filament Rayon Yarn and Cellophane Paper.
The product range covers :
18.5/19 TPD of Viscose Filament Rayon Yarn, 9.5 TPD of Cellophane
Paper, 100 TPD of Sulphuric Acid, 18 TPD of Sodium Sulphate and 12 TPD of Carbon
disulphide.
This plant treats its industrial waste of about 15,000 KI/day
containing zinc, sulphuric acid and other dissolved and suspended particulate matters,
using a state-of-the-art effluent treatment plant.
The Division has ambitious plans for expansion.
The Rayon plant started production
with 24 machines having installed capacity of 7 M.T. per day in 1959. A second plant of
another 24 spinning machines was added in the year 1962 and further 4 such machines in
1976. Currently we have 52 spinning machines with installed capacity of 6500 M.T. per
annum.
The auxiliary units of Sulphuric acid and Carbon-di-sulphide to cater
the demand for captive consumption, were also added in 1961.
When the world witnessed any innovation in the rayon manufacturing process,
Kesoram Rayon was quick to adopt the same. This has become an integral part of the
company’s modernisation programme.
